Corfe Reserves winless start to the season extended to 10 games with a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Marnhull on Saturday.
Going in to the match Corfe without a number of players with Jack Goldsack, Richard Fieldhouse, James Peters and Tom Baker all unavailable while co-manager Jamie Perry completed his touchline ban. Aaron Cuckow was welcomed in to the squad for his debut.
Corfe started strongly with Zack Arp having some joy down the left flank and the Corfe midfield combining well. A number of chances were created but not taken with the Marnhull ‘keeper barely tested.
Somewhat against the run of play Marnhull took the lead when a shot squeezed past Adam Travers. Corfe remained in the game but looked suspect when Marnhull broke, as evidenced by the second goal.
The second half continued in a similar vein with Corfe still trying, but failing to find a way back in to the game. Marnhull found a third, a penalty appeal after Mark Lemon went down in the penalty area fell on death ears and injuries to Craig Nuthall and Sam Hickman disrupted the flow of the team. Marnhull soon found themselves four goals up.
Harry Smith scored a late consolation for the visitors, who sit third bottom of Division Three after the defeat.
